Philosophy

Branden is a more progressive, holistic version of a personal trainer. He believes that the key to having a beautiful body — one that gives you confidence and allows you to enjoy life and help others — is connecting it to the spiritual aspect of your health. He helps his clients cultivate a more present, compassionate relationship with their bodies, both during the workout and in the real world, thus increasing his clients’ self-accountability and self-respect.

Branden is dedicated to helping his clients on their journey to physical well being, utilizing his diverse skills, experience and unique empowering energy to coach his clients along their individual paths. He provides the highest quality of emotional service and an unwavering focus when working with his clients.

Since 2011, Branden has earned and held the trust of a dynamic range of clients in New York City, including CEOs, entrepreneurs, executives, models, health and wellness professionals, musicians, drag queens, designers, managers and financial strategists.

Some of these clients find Branden after having worked with other trainers, and are no strangers to physical exertion — they can already claim strong, lean, muscular bodies. These are the types of clients that appreciate the aggressive approach Branden can take in their training program, helping them earn an even better body composition (the ratio of muscle mass to fat mass), while gaining more strength, increasing stability and improving endurance. These changes are implemented over time, while clients also enjoy enhanced equilibrium in their daily life through gradual and sustainable changes in their habits outside the gym.

Many of Branden’s clients come to him with zero or little experience in the gym, but he has no less commitment or attentiveness. These are the types of clients that have significant opportunities to re-balance their bodies after years of counterproductive physical habits in and out of the gym, and can improve their eating and lifestyle practices. They appreciate the gradual, nurturing approach Branden can take in guiding them into more confident, balanced and happy individuals who eventually enjoy head-turning changes in their physique.

Branden is most interested in working with those individuals who want to work together as a team, appreciate the fact that sustainable, noticeable changes are usually not earned overnight, and who value a detail-oriented trainer with meticulous attention to form, pacing and programming.

Branden’s Story

“I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. I played tennis competitively as a child but (in the words of a friend with whom I reconnected at my 10 year high school reunion) I was “tiny” as a high school student. Halfway through my four years as an undergraduate at Indiana University, I sat down on a grand, green velvet armchair in the foyer of a sorority, and felt my burgeoning little belly burst open the button on my light blue khaki shorts. I will never forget that moment. I had become used to having spaghetti noodle arms, but now, I looked marginally pregnant. I was meant to live a better life. The time to start working towards that life was NOW.

Two years and a much stronger, leaner physique later, I moved to New York City in the summer of 2008. Over the years that followed, I subjected myself to all kinds of workout and diet regimens, some of which were borderline self-abusive and disordered eating. More often than not, I moved forward in my Supreme Quest to be the biggest guy I could be. After all, adding muscle mass was going to fill the void I had always felt, right? 

In the midst of all this, I began my career as a trainer and coach in 2011. I took inherent skills I already possessed, and built on them, to become a professional at the top of his game when it came to helping clients transform their aesthetic. However, I continued to battle my own demons. I slowly began to develop a better relationship with myself and my body as I realized that my worth and happiness were not tied up exclusively, or even primarily, in how big my arms were or how carved my abdomen was. I began to understand the meaning of the word ‘balance.’

In the Winter of 2017, I broke a record for myself: I reached two hundred and ten pounds. It felt amazing. It was just a few short years ago that I couldn’t seem to cross the one hundred and eighty pound threshold, for the life of me! I wish my 24-year old self could see me now. If I could send a message back in time, it would also include the sentiment that while being strong and massive absolutely feels wonderful, those aren’t the things that bring happiness. Relationships, service, asking for help when I’m struggling, humor, authenticity, and indulging my creativity are what bring me happiness.

Today, my body is my playground. I believe we all have the right to enjoy our bodies: to use them for love, for pleasure, to help others, to be an example, to help us accomplish our dreams and prove to ourselves just how formidable discipline and dedication are. I am consistently studying new ways of eating, living and lifting. I invite you to make me a part of your journey: to allow me to help you create the body and lifestyle of your dreams.”
